As a Senior DevOps Engineer at Iron Ox, you will assist our software team to realize our vision for an optimized, intelligent farm. As part of the team, you will lead our efforts to architect, design, implement and test new infrastructure for our CI pipelines and production monitoring systems which will help our team ship and support high-quality software quickly and reliably. You will work with back-end developers, roboticists, and data scientists to build tools that help them do their jobs better and happier. Projects you may work on include a streamlined software deployment and configuration management solution for our farm’s IoT devices and a data upload, ingestion, and surfacing pipeline to support our data science team’s plant science investigations.
We are looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer who can write code to solve specific problems but also sees the value in reusing off-the-shelf tooling to ship infrastructure solutions more quickly. A solid understanding of Linux containers and Linux system administration is also a requirement. Past experience in data engineering or robotics are big pluses, but this position would be great for a DevOps engineer interested in learning more about those domains.
What You’ll Do

- Create and maintain the continuous integration, build, and deployment pipelines
- Develop new pipelines, scripts, and frameworks for continuous integration, build (robotics, software), test (software, low-level hardware components, high-level robot functionality), and deployment.
- Own package and configuration management (e.g. Ansible, Docker, etc.)
- Develop bring up processes for robots and physical systems, including manual and automated processes
- Define, manage, debug, and help maintain our network infrastructure, for both humans and robots
- Help debugging system-level issues on robots and other onsite systems
- Help build an amazing software team by participating in our hiring process
What You’ll Bring
-
- 5+ years of experience writing clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Experience in Python, Docker, and Cloud container orchestration such as Kubernetes, AWS ECS, or similar
- Experience with Linux administration and on-premise servers
- Experience with build systems such as CMake, Bazel, or similar
- Experience with CI systems such as Github CI, Gitlab CI, Jenkins, Circle CI, or similar
- Experience with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or other cloud PaaS
- Experience in Networking (routing, firewalls, subnet configuration, etc)
- Excellent collaborative, communication, and documentation skills
- BS in Computer Science or a related field
- Ability to occasionally commute to our farm in Gilroy
