As an Aquaculture Technician you will be responsible for the daily operations and duties in the aquaculture portion of Superior Fresh, raising Atlantic salmon for consumption. Aquaculture Technicians are responsible for stocking, caring for, and harvesting fish. All operations will be done in accordance with the company HACCP and food safety plans, strict bio-security measures, and Standard Operating Procedures. This position will be responsible for all life stages of growth for Atlantic salmon and the associated systems in which they will be raised.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent, Required.
Bachelor’s degree in aquaculture, biology, fisheries, or related fields, Preferred.
Experience: Knowledge of aquaculture or aquaponics and having worked in an aquaculture facility or in a fisheries related field, Preferred.
Licenses or Certifications: None required.
Status: Full-time
Schedule: Traditionally Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. with occasional evening and weekend work required
On-call with other employees.
Work will include many weekends and holidays.
Must be flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.
Wage Grade: $15/hour – $17/hour

Implement Good Agricultural Practices in daily duties and responsibilities.
Participate in egg incubation and fry rearing in the aquaculture facility.
Feed fish, remove mortalities, and care for aquatic species in the aquaculture facility.
Monitor daily water quality data.
Implement existing and new practices developed by Management.
Perform harvests for both species in accordance to company Standard Operating Procedures.
Use best judgment and reasoning in assisting with company decision making.
Relay information regarding issues with system operation and general issues to the Aquaculture Assistant Manager.
Record daily data and other pertinent information in digital/written form in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures.
Enter and compile data for assessment by the Aquaculture Assistant Manager.
Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
Maintain reliable attendance.
Actively participate in meetings, training, and education. Assist with training other employees and providing backup.
Complete other assignments and special projects as requested.
