The Assistant Production Manager (Logistics Coordinator) will be primarily responsible for managing the logistics program and executing efficient and accurate inventory handling in the cold storage and loading dock areas. This includes coordinating and negotiating shipments with both carriers and Company vehicles; maintaining accurate DOT, inventory, product release, and traceability documentation; managing the warehouse area, and preparing shipments.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in related field; Or, high school diploma and 2+ years supply chain/shipping industry experience, required
Experience:
1+ year of FMCSA (DOT) compliance/coordination experience, preferred
1+ year of Food production/manufacturing experience, preferred
Licenses or Certifications:
Prior forklift/pallet-jack experience, preferred
Ability to earn a forklift certification upon employment, required
Ability to earn CDL Class B License, preferred (fill-in as back-up driver, facilitate pick-up/drop-off from mechanics, yard moves, etc)

Coordinate logistics to arrange shipping for different customers (develop shipping partners; schedules; etc.).
Oversee driver and vehicle management, DOT compliance and record keeping (ELD’s, etc).
Manage the warehouse area. Develop and implement product pull and shipment building protocols and systems.
Responsible for the physical inventory each day, ensuring physical inventory counts align with electronic records.
Responsible for daily record keeping, including product release logs and traceability worksheets.
Develop and ensure compliance with product release procedures; confirm appropriate truck temperatures, maintain required documentation and records, assist customers and drivers professionally.
Communicate customer order information in a timely and professional manner, both internally and externally.
Maintain and update standard operating procedures and ensure that all production/logistics staff are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
Record daily data and other pertinent information in digital/written form in accordance with company standard operating procedures.
Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
Responsible for scheduling, planning, and organizing work; clearly communicating goals and ensuring that all staff are familiar with SOP’s.
Maintain working knowledge of maintenance best practices, such as preventative or predictive maintenance that improves uptime efficiencies.
Responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and positive work environment.
