We currently have a Forklift Operator position in our Carpinteria, California location.
Under the direction of the Shipping & Logistics manager, the Forklift Operator receives, stores, or moves material in the warehouse, loading dock, yard, or storage area. Transports materials to, from, or between manufacturing production lines.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Observes safety protocols and if applicable, manufacturer’s instructions when performing tasks.
- Wears all protective equipment, including work gloves, eye protection, respiratory protection, proper clothing and footwear, disposable gloves, lab coat, rubber apron rubber boots, hair net and chemical goggles.
- Follows food safety policies and procedures, including using the proper procedure to wash and sanitize hands before every shift and when returning to work.
- Operates forklift, making runs throughout the nursery to take product to the cooler.
- Drives dump truck for refuse disposal and turns in paperwork to office within 24 hours.
- Prior to signing out equipment and vehicles performs operations and safety check, including battery, brakes, lift controls and fire extinguishers.
- Stores, stacks, or palletizes materials; examines and reports deterioration and damage; rearranges and occasionally takes inventory of materials and product in the warehouse.
- Prepares finished product for shipment or storage, ensuring that it is placed correctly in the shipping area.
- Ensures that shipments are properly packaged, identified with all the required shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles.
- Proceeds safely to assigned areas to pull, load, and move merchandise, checking locator cards and all documents specific to each type of movement.
- Checks inventory of goods and materials of entire operation, making sure that all sections have the required supplies.
- Operates other farm equipment as trained.
- Attends weekly, monthly, and other periodic safety training.
- Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- One year or more of forklift experience.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
