Grower @ Superior Fresh Full Time

POSITION SUMMARY

As a member of the greenhouse production/growing team, the Grower will manage commercial scale, organic DWC systems and perform all tasks necessary to seeding, propagation, and grow-out.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Optimize growing strategies to achieve high quality, high yield, high performance crops of leafy greens.

• Manage growing in a large-scale, commercial hydroponic facilities.

• Work with a management team to maintain organization and control of the hydroponic growing software and operation.

• Manage seeding, pest control, plant health, etc.

• Ensure product quality and yields are achieved.

• Develop and maintain SOP’s related to all hydroponic growing processes.

• Continually update the team on new technologies, equipment, and processes to constantly improve.

• Initiate and carry out projects that improve efficiencies and reduce operating costs.

SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS

• On-call with other employees to respond to system alarms.

• Will include some weekends and holidays.

• Flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary.

• Travel up to 10%

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent, Required

• Bachelor’s degree, Preferred

Experience

• 5+ years in Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Pathology, Entomology, Plant Science or another related field, preferred.

• 1+ year of organic hydroponics experience, desired.

• 1+ year of greenhouse environmental-control systems, desired.

Licenses or Certifications

• Food safety, GAP, HACCP, etc., preferred.

• Integrated pest management application, preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Significant knowledge in plant physiology and pathology.

• Working knowledge of techniques used for the production and culture of leafy greens and fruiting vegetables.

• Ability to create bio-plans and constantly strive to improve and increase production and minimize waste.

• Knowledge of water chemistry and equipment used to evaluate water quality parameters.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
