As a vertical farming scaleup, we’ve always been innovative. It’s just who we are and how we tick. We’re committed to using data and technology to improve our harvests and break new ground in the industry. Hiring a Programme Manager is key to that. We’re looking for someone to drive forward our vision of a highly-automated and sustainable farming facility, especially our bespoke crop management software developed on the Salesforce platform, known as ANI.
You’re already a proven software Programme Manager and an expert at steering teams and development projects – projects that have significant data feed interfaces and hardware connectivity. Your role has spanned across departments and groups, where you’ve managed the full software project cycle from scoping through to development, and then onto deployment and refinement. If this has been delivered within an agriculture or food production business that’d be great – and if in vertical farming, all the better.
As a vertical farm we want to grow amazing fresh produce for the food sector. By embracing innovation we aim to make the food system more sustainable, secure and transparent. As a B-Corporation we are committed to having a positive impact on people and the planet as we grow. That’s the passion you’ll share.
Reporting to Liam (our Head of Crop Science), your key responsibilities are going to include:
Managing ANI product development for internal applications across our whole business from R&D to data science, from sales through to operations – and everything in between.
Aligning our technical development projects with our overall vision, expansion plans and commercial targets, managing the timelines to match those of our wider business goals.
Building and maintaining the product roadmap for ANI, seeking inputs and expected outcomes, delivering and quantifying the value they’ll bring to our ability to execute well.
Sharing insights and making recommendations to department decision makers to inform and to modify the product roadmap, gaining agreement from the senior leadership team.
Ensuring that project scopes maximise and understand the integration of hardware & software, including aspects such as climate control, energy usage and crop productivity.
Organizing and managing the processes to ensure continuous technical improvement through testing, feedback and review sessions with users and functional leaders.
Delivering project updates to our key internal and external stakeholders, to manage the delivery of product features.
Working closely with the Business Analyst, who you’ll have a hand in hiring, to ensure the product milestones are delivered on schedule, to budget and spec.
Defining and agreeing – alongside the Business Analyst – the process for project and program management across the company, using technology where possible to create visibility and reduce admin.
Creating and maintaining all technical product documentation – using best practice and technology – to facilitate quick and easy review by others.
Identifying third party off-the-shelf simple software solutions that can support the wider ‘back office’ functions and processes and that can be integrated with ANI and ideally the Salesforce platform.
To achieve this, alongside all the technical skills you’d expect of a Programme Manager from budgetary and project planning, to project scoping, to managing external suppliers – it’s your approach that sets you apart: your approach holds people to account but supports them to succeed; it ensures people know what’s going on without overwhelming them with details; you’ll roll up your sleeves to help out but not take over; and your own personal commitment and style creates way more buy-in than the processes you rightly expect folks to follow.
If you’ve got a background with Salesforce as a development platform that would be excellent too. Finally, of course, you deliver results. For everyone, every time.
