Job Summary:
The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor is responsible for inventory management, finished goods and supply management. The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor will be working closely with the Supply Chain Department and other departments while fostering a positive environment of respect. The Shipping & Receiving Supervisor must be highly motivated, a self-starter and reliable to lead the Shipping department.
Areas of Primary Responsibility:
Inventory Management
- Working in conjunction with the Production Manager to assure quality products are readily available based on customer orders
- Oversee or review of product upon arrival from production
- Good organizational practice to assure FIFO (First in First Out) of products
Supply Management
- Responsible for cycle counting
- Material management such as raw materials
- Follow up on open order of material
- Receiving of all materials
Transfer Logistics
- Working with the General Manager to assure products arrive in a timely manner to fulfill daily workload
- Reviewing orders for the following day to ensure product is available
- Constant contact with production supervisors on timing of product availability
- Scheduling drivers for internal transfers
Internal Logistics
- Review orders for the day of and following day
- Build trucks to maximize cost savings and team welfare
- Work with customers to assure prompt and accurate delivery
Additional Departmental Duties
- Manage Bioterrorism forms
- Prepare and print pallets tags
- Food Safety – Transfer Lists and Shipping Monitoring Log
Required Knowledge:
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office
- Possession of a valid driver’s license
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
- Ensure that staffing levels are balanced and maintained to meet projected workloads, service, and quality standards
- Predicted/anticipated hours required and oversee scheduling to maintain maximum efficiency and productivity
- Management of finished product ready for shipment and verify that proper shipping procedures are being applied
- Safeguard and verified cooler procedures so that finished products were properly stored and maintained to prevent damage and theft
- Ensure that product arriving (both packed and unpacked) is unloaded, inspected, cooled in a timely manner, and consistent with company policies and procedures
- Cooperate with other department managers in fostering and maintaining a strong team environment with open communication and worked towards accomplishing team goals
- Observe and train employees in proper safety procedures
- Develop employee skills through leadership, training, and open communication. Always look for ways to improve efficiency and simplifying of job tasks
- Ensure that outbound shipments are loaded and shipped in accordance with company transportation and truck conditions standards and that all proper documentation is prepared and signed properly
- Identify and propose solutions to inter-departmental communications, efficiency, safety, and training
Preferred Knowledge:
- Bilingual – English/Spanish
- Supply Management knowledge
- Comprehensive knowledge of perishable products as it applies to lettuce
- ERP system-NetSuite or Oracle base system
