Primarily using .NET Core with Angular frontend to integrate multiple hardware and software sub-systems. The Software Engineering Team:

Growing our team, we are now seeking Software Engineers to help build the cloud-based vertical farm management systems that allow our customers to grow high quality commercially viable crops.

As we develop our product, focused on the needs of our users, the software must grow and scale reliably. We have automated testing and continuous integration pipelines at the centre of our engineering practices. We need to move fast and deliver early to keep up with our market, so we have adopted Scrum, to keep us all in lock step and delivering the highest priorities first.

Who are you:

You are seeking to grow and enhance the range and depth your skills. You can produce high quality solutions and have an attention to detail second to none. You are passionate about putting the user first, making them the first consideration in all your decisions. You understand cloud-based solutions including excellent security awareness. You are a .NET Core engineer with the focus and discipline that word suggests. You are comfortable in complex use of Angular as a front end for the API layer. You have some cloud ops experience with a major provider (preferably Azure) and are comfortable with the latest deployment tools including Docker and K8s. And some python wouldn’t hurt. You have a strong sense of team and can support those around you, keeping us moving forward. You are all that and you are a real person too, one that remembers that we all are, displaying kindness, patience and decency.

Responsibilities:

• Enhance existing and build new .NET Core, Angular, SQLServer microservice software
• Assist in designing architectures for scalable future solutions
• Develop well documented and reliable inter-systems and external (mostly RESTful) APIs
• Implement a frontend in conjunction with UI/UX guidelines and patterns
• Work closely with the DevOps team to ensure that deployed code is of the highest quality
• Engage in all scrum ceremonies
• Refine user stories to ensure they are of the highest quality
• Continuously seek ways to improve our development, test and deployment processes
• Assist in the maintenance of technical debt backlog
• Code reviews
• Lead, mentor and grow more junior members of the team (Senior Engineers)

Skills:

Required:

• .NET Core, SQLServer, HTML, CSS, Angular and Windows engineering skills including unit, integration and other automated testing
• Experience with modern CI/CD pipelines (eg Azure DevOps/Tekton/CircleCI/Harness)
• High personal coding standards with skills in code review and static code analysis along with experience of the tools to do that (eg pull requests, Sonarqube, ESLint)
• Strong git skills (Azure DevOps/GitHub)
• Database design skills and understanding of other persistence tools (eg Redis, Cosmos)
• Excellent communication skills

Desired:

• Basic Linux experience including command line
• Basic Docker and K8s skills
• Basic Python skills
• Comfortable with IDE use (Jetbrains)
• Experience with ticketing system (eg Jira)
• Experience of pair programming
• Experience with Azure AD authorisation
• Experience with monitoring and alerting

Compensation Package

Salary is market competitive. To get you started we will provide a laptop and a great working environment with flexibility around the working week of 40 hours.

We are based in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh, accessible for trains and buses with cycle to work facilities.
